Sunday 6/6/10

Double-R: 6 Jun at 09:49
CLOSED.
Next Sunday (13th, the park is being hired privately)
Also bumped into some folks who are involved with the new local park at Crossways. Looks like a baby version of Dorch' park but any park is better than no facility so good luck to them.

There are 1000's of moves that can be done on a bike and seemingly now more than ever the focus is on the same dozen or so tricks and there subtle variations. For something refreshingly different, check the stuff in this vid' (seen on `Krt Schmidt.com)

Following what will hopefully be a successful Dorchester skatepark jam this Saturday, The Trick Factory will host a small informal riding session from Sunday mid morning. Amongst others, Tian Moses will be in attendance (the first & only guy to date to flip our beloved volcanoe)0 Comments
If the big front door is closed it will probably be because we are riding/skating over the outdoor park or the coach park so just come and find us & reel us back to TTF.Dry spring/summer nights...... image.0 Comments
Some good poses here...Yeah guys n' girls.... image.0 Comments
From now until autumn the Trick Factory will be closed on Sundays, UNLESS the weather is bad and/or notice is given to be open. As with last year, will post on here and Facebook on Sunday morning stating OPEN / CLOSED.0 Comments
March 23rd 7.45pm for 8pm at The Electric Palace, South Street, Bridport. A Paragliding adventure with a Philanthropic objective. "Birdman of the Karakorum" is a film that focuses on some of the paragliding and film making exploits of John Silvester and Alun Hughs and other Himalayan paragliding explorers like local Eddie Colfox. In the words of one reviewer: "Ready yourself to be thrown into the heart of a terrifying world of extreme altitude flying that few humans will ever experience".
It is to raise funds for The Bridport Trick `Factory (an indoor voluntary run skate and cycle park) AND for the people of Hunza in Pakistan, a tribal area in the High Karakorum, who have recently had a landslide block off their communication link and also trap 87m of glacial meltwater in a dam which when\if it breaks will flood their town, 20 people have already been killed and much farmland has also been lost.

Eddie will introduce the film, the area and the fund raising objectives using pictures and take questions at the end. The cost is £10 or £6 to concessions and can be booked on 01308 428354 between 9.30 - 4.30pm weekdays. All profits are to the above charities. The bars will be open throughout!

If only more of the powers that be would sit up, take notice & invest in something that is obvious to most of us.......0 Comments
(14/03/09)Open from 4pm (not 2pm as we won't have any electric, thanks electric company)0 Comments
The latest appeal to get planning permission to stick houses on the park has been viewed invalid. Good news for the short term but still an uncertain long term future. The land owner allegedly reacted angrily and pledged to put up rents (constructive eviction). Oh well.0 Comments
The Developers' appeal on the plan to close the Trick Factory will take place this week, 26-29 January, at the Parkdean Holiday Centre in West Bay, from around 10am to at least 4pm each day. If you are able to come, and show as much support for the Trick Factory as possible, that would be great. It may be very dull legal stuff, etc., but merely showing your face will be important to save the place.0 Comments

It was a great night on Thursday, but TOMORROW (SATURDAY) IS THE BIG DAY TO SAVE THE TRICK FACTORY - the West Dorset District Council may be talking about deferring development for a year, but that does not mean the Trick Factory's future is safe, now or in 12 months time. The Trick Factory building is not owned by the Council, for a start. We need at least 20 Trick Factory users at the Bridport Arts Centre at 11:45am tomorrow morning, preferably with cameras, and wearing something bright orange, but do show up even if you don't have a camera or orange clothing - there will be plenty to do. And another twenty at 2.30pm would be great. We will be persuading passers by to have their pictures taken to add to the photo petition, with their own captions or ones you come up with for them. TRICK OR STREET. See you tomorrow. - Clive0 Comments
